i'm not sure i've ever seen a hedgehog except in pics. are they scavengers? pests?
nice anyway.

Hedgehogs eat insects and slugs and snails, as well as other vegetarian options!! So they are welcome visitors - they eat the pests!

We were at the Renaissance Faire in our town on Sunday. They had a Pigmy African hedgehog that had been confiscated (not allowed in California) & it was very cute. It has a white face & belly rather than the dark ones native to Europe.

The info they gave on it was so very interesting.

Thank you for sharing your back yard wildlife. :)

I was about to ask if they were wild or pets, then read the comments. My daughter's friend has an albino hedgehog as a pet. I've never seen then in their natural setting. That is really neat.

Wonder if they are soft or prickly? Love that pointed nose.

Put it this way, you would not want to stroke them backwards!! When they are under attack they roll into a ball and all those prickles stick out....
