'Honest Scrap' award

Kelli has very kindly given me the 'Honest Scrap' aweard.  She blogs over at My Life that I know and Love and has a second blog called This is Me...Inside and Out.  Thanks Kelli!

Here are the instructions:

1. Thank the person who gave you the award and list their blog and link it.
2. Share "10 Honest things" about yourself.

3. Present this award to 7 others whose blogs you find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged you.

4. Tell those 7 people they've been awarded HONEST SCRAP and inform them of these guidelines in receiving the award.

My 10 Honest Things About Myself:

* I have already forgotten the things I was originally going to write here. My mind is always cluttered up with so many things, others slip out. It’s very frustrating, if inevitable!! I have a very busy brain.

* Like Kelli herself, I love stationary. I can go quite loopy over various notebooks, pens, journals, address books…

* How ever hard I try, I can’t seem to have the whole house tidy at once.

* I have a weird phobia about falling down stairs, or escalators. If I’m feeling tired or wobbly, I hold onto the rail very tightly and try not to imagine crashing down to the bottom. I have no idea where that comes from!!

* I am frequently guilty of having multiple projects ongoing at the same time. There are those in my life who can’t understand why I can’t just focus on one thing! It may be related to that hectic mind I mentioned in my first honest thing. It’s been refreshing and challenging to focus on my writing and allow myself to do so. Mind you, with Christmas coming, life inevitably gets chaotic! I have found however that having lots of different interests widens the scope for writing…

* I’m naturally affectionate. I was once told I seemed aloof, which seems hilarious to me. Most of the time I just want to hug people and laugh with them and dry their tears… I’m just a bit shy.

* I frequently have ‘deep’ moments where I’m totally overawed by being alive, and existing even to think about it. My brain stretches like elastic and goes ‘twang’ with the effort. Some get it, some don’t!

* Those I really love, I love painfully. I actually ache with it.

* I have had to remove all Facebook games as I get too easily drawn in. Every now and then I cave and play one, then have a stronger moment and remove it. I want to use all the time I have…for what’s real, for writing, for time enriching my faith in God. But I’m easily addicted to the virtual, especially when I’ve feeling tired and…bleah-ish.

*I really, really, need to sort out my photographs – both my old prints and those that are now stored digitally. But there are so many jobs in life and not enough energy to complete them all!!

Blogs That Have Encouraged Me and Are Brilliant in Design and/or Content:

* Learning from Sophie – brunette koala has had an award from me before, but ‘honest scrap’ also seemed to be very apt for her – honest, encouraging, lovely.

*Dawning Light – Michelle writes beautiful entries.

*http://thejoyefuljourney.blogspot.com/ – a lovely blog

*Dancing Barefoot on Weathered Ground – Lynnette’s enthusiasm is contagious!

*Tracing Rainbows – Angela writes thoughtful, well presented entries.

*Uphill Idealist – Lamont’s blog is a very enjoyable read

*Gitzen Girl – A blog I’ve come across recently which is creative, honest, funny and thoughtful.

fire!

It’s Pentecost Sunday and we did something rather different in the service this morning. We are required to have a fire drill in the building once a year, so Andy and Rob incorporated it into the service. Andy was reading the passage from Acts where it talks about the rushing wind and tongues of fire – and then the alarm sounded, so everyone had to get up and troop outside. Very effective, and made me smile, too!

I should say here that Mrs M has also awarded me the Kreativ Blogger award in her recent post, so thank you Mrs M!

I have also been awarded the Lemonade Stand, or ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ award by two bloggers, Sarah in the Woods, and Kathryn – thank you so much! It’s taken a while for me to officially accept the award – how ironic if I forgot to thank them for their ‘gratitude’ award! I will try and update this post at some point with bloggers who I feel deserve this award (pictured).

The sunshine continues…

"kreativ blogger" award

I have received my first blogging 'award' from Lora- how exciting!

It comes with the following instructions:

  1. Post the award on your blog, and link to the person who gave you the award.
  2. List seven things you love.
  3. List seven blogs you love.
  4. E-mail or comment on those blogs to let the people know you've given them the award.

Here goes...

Seven things I love:

  1. Learning about God and getting to know him better
  2. Relaxing with Andy
  3. Spending time with friends and family
  4. Taking photographs
  5. Nature and wildlife watching
  6. Making things (e.g. cards, scrapbook pages...)
  7. Colours - I love colours in our garden and the natural world (see #5) and capturing them on camera (see #4), and I love colourful papers to use in crafting (see #6). I love it that our world is so full of various colours - it's wonderful.

Seven blogs I love:

This one is quite difficult. I love more than 7 blogs! But I will select those who I think will appreciate having an award, and also have a 'kreativ' aspect!

  1. Lynn over at help I work with children. I reckon you need quite a bit of creative thinking to be a children's and family pastor!

  2. Brunette Koala over at Learning from Sophie. Currently promoting 'The Art of Joy' with random acts of kindness, among other things. Check out her blog for more details.

  3. Bring on the Joy - last I looked, she wasn't feeling very well. Hope you feel better soon, BOTJ!

  4. This one goes to Art in the Wind - thoughtful musings from a fellow rabbit owner!

  5. The entire "bunyard" at Furrybutts. Gorgeous rabbits, lovely photographs.

  6. Artistic Abigail over at the newly named Rear Window: Observations of 32nd Street. Great new blog design, too!

  7. Last but not least, AngelJoy over at Hippychick. She has a beautiful blog.

It's Andy's birthday this week and his parents are coming to see us this weekend, so am getting guest room ready. Feel absurdly excited at the first use of our new guest towels (!) So I may not be posting much until next week.

Garden drama - the increasingly resident goldfinch pair were very indignant this morning at the arrival of a third - went into frenzied pursuit.

Today: 4/10, medium - high
